A Case of Right Aortic Arch with Aberrant Left Subclavian Artery

Abstract
Congenital anomalous aortic arches and subclavian arteries are relatively common,
especially right aortic arch with an aberrent left subclavian artery which occurs in about
0.05% of the populations. The radiologic findigns of a plain chest X-ray are occasionally
mistaken for a mediastinal tumor or an aortic aneurysm.
This 48-year old woman was admitted to the Severance Hospital because of known
mediastinal widening in plain chest X-ray for 7 months. Chest CT scan and
echocadiography confirmed the diagnosis of a right aortic arch with an aberrent left
subclavian artery.
